Body-safe sex toys: silicone, glass & metal

What a toy is made of affects how easy it is to clean and how long it lasts. Every product on this page has a manufacturer description that names a body-safe or non-porous material such as silicone, glass or stainless steel.

We list what each manufacturer states and don’t certify materials ourselves. Always read the full product description, and get in touch if you’d like more detail before you buy.

How to choose body-safe sex toys

Non-porous vs. porous
Non-porous materials (silicone, glass, stainless steel, ABS plastic) have no tiny pores to trap bacteria, so they can be cleaned thoroughly. Porous materials such as TPE and jelly rubber are harder to clean fully.
Silicone and silicone lube
Silicone lube can degrade some silicone toys. Water-based lube is compatible with every material, so it’s the safe default.
Clean before and after
Use warm water with mild soap or a dedicated toy cleaner, and follow the manufacturer’s care instructions, especially for toys with motors or charging ports.

Questions, answered

Do you test or certify these materials?

No. Products appear here because their manufacturer’s own description lists a body-safe or non-porous material. We show that description in full on every product page.

Which lube should I use with silicone toys?

Water-based lube is compatible with every material. Use silicone lube with silicone toys only if the manufacturer says it’s compatible.
